Crawl Space Access Well and Door Installation
What is a Crawl Space Access Well?
Access wells and covers for crawl space entrances are essential for providing safe and convenient access to the crawl space. An access well is a structure that allows individuals to enter the crawl space easily. Our access well is a custom made 18-gauge galvanized metal and comes with a cover that prohibits rainwater, wind, leaves, or debris from entering the crawl space. We install 8” of pea stone to the bottom of the well with a 2” drain port to eliminate any possible water accumulation from the bottom of the well. We provide proper installation of both the access well and cover to maintain the integrity of the crawl space and prevent moisture intrusion.
Why Install a Crawl Space Access Well and Door?
- Protects the Crawl Space from Moisture: A well-designed access well helps keep water from entering the crawl space, which can lead to moisture problems like mold, mildew, and wood rot. Proper sealing and drainage around the door prevent standing water and humidity from damaging the structural components of the home.
- Improves Safety: It provides safe access for homeowners or contractors to perform inspections and maintenance tasks in the crawl space. Having a secure and sturdy entry point reduces the risk of injury when accessing the space.
- Pest Control: A well-built crawl space access door, especially one with a good seal, helps keep pests like rodents, insects, and other wildlife from entering the crawl space. Without a secure access point, animals can find their way into the crawl space and potentially cause damage or contamination.
- Energy Efficiency: A well-sealed access door helps to keep the elements outside, maintaining the energy efficiency of your home. Without a proper door, drafts can occur, which can affect the temperature and air quality inside the home.
- Durability and Maintenance: Proper installation ensures that the access door and well last for years without the need for frequent repairs. This reduces long-term maintenance costs and keeps the crawl space in good condition.
