Soil Gas after encapsulation

What is Soil Gas? After a crawl space has been encapsulated and sealed, soil gases can develop. If you have recently encapsulated your crawl space and you smell a cat pee odor in your home, you may have a soil gas problem. This is due to off gassing from you crawl space soils. Approximately less than 5% of encapsulated crawl spaces will have a soil gas problem.

The Solution

If you encapsulated crawl space has a sump pump with a perforated drain pipe, we will install a radon gas fan into your existing perforated drain pipe. This will pull negative air pressure from under your crawl space liner and discharge to the outside of your home.
If your encapsulated crawl space doesn’t have a drain pipe system, one would need to be installed with a radon gas fan. This will eliminate your soil gas problem.
